Biofuels ETP
The Mission of the European Biofuels Technology Platform is to contribute to:
- the development of cost-competitive world-class biofuels value chains,
- to the creation of a healthy biofuels industry
- to accelerate the sustainable deployment of biofuels in the EU
through a process of guidance, prioritisation and promotion of research, technology development and demonstration.
The Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V. (FNR) is acting as the legal representative for the European Biofuels Technology Platform in this project. FNR has been leading beneficiary of the Biofuels TP secretariat (together with STEM) since October 2006 and has been involved in all ETP activities so far. FNR is the central co-ordinating agency in Germany for the promotion of renewable biological resources (www.fnr.de). It was founded in 1993 by the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) which funds its activities. The agency has an extensive experience in European projects, either as coordinator (CTVO-net, Altener cluster Bioenergy 4Biomass) or beneficiary in projects such as NF-2000, EUBIONET II, EUBIONET III, Bioenergy Promotion, ERA-NET Bioenergy, ERA IB, ET Bioenergy, and INFORRM-IENICA. Furthermore FNR represents Germany in IEA Bioenergy and coordinates the SCAR Collaborative Working Group on Renewable Raw Materials on behalf of the German Ministry of Agriculture. On a national level, FNR has funded, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, more than 150 R&D projects with relevance to biorefining, including major projects on the lignocellulose biorefinery.
